Latrobe Speedway Has Week Off Before Big Month of July

LATROBE, PA (June 21, 2022) – Many of the local race tracks are taking off the weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Models running in the area for $50,000 to win. While the raceway may not be running, Dennis Bates and crew continue with improvements going on at the speedway, The new grandstands continue to be worked on. Last week drivers saw the new Whelen emergency lights working for the first time.
 
Racing returns on Saturday, July 2 with a $2500 to win K2 Engineering Crate Late Model feature. Crate Late Models will share the track that night with the Specialty T Metals Pro Stocks, Joe’s Body Shop Pure Stocks, Stone & Co Modified 4 Cylinder, Seal Tite Strictly Stock 4 Cylinders.
 
July 9 will see the just announced Inaugural Charlie Field, Sr. Memorial Race for the K2 Engineering Crate Late Models. The 24 lap race pays $1000 to win with and increased payoff back through the top ten courtesy of the Field Family. The race is 24 laps in honor of the Charlie’s car number. His son’s Charlie Jr. and Mark raced for a number of years and now grandson Michael Ott carries that tradition on for the family. The Big Block Modifieds are racing for $2000 to win making for some big action that night. The ground pounding cars are fun to watch. The Special T Metals Pro Stocks, Joe’s Body Shop Pure Stocks, and the Stone & Co 4 Cylinders are all in competition with the Seal Tite Strictly Stock 4 Cylinders off for the night. It is also First Responders Night at the track.
 
July 16 will be a fan and driver (crew) appreciation night. Grandstand Admission is only $10 and Pits is $25. This is a way of thanking everyone who came out for the Super Late Model show that saw only two cars show up.
 
July 23 is the Inaugural Ron Compton Memorial for Crate Late Models. Ron was a top competitor at the track back in the Schmucker Speedway days. More info will be forthcoming on payouts for the race. The Special T Metals Pro Stocks, Joe’s Body Shop Pure Stocks, Stone & Co 4 Cylinders and Seal Tite Strictly Stock 4 Cylinders are all racing. Joining them is the Vintage Modifieds.
Rounding out the month on July 30 is the Twin 20’s for the K2 Engineering Crate Late Models. This is the first time twin races have been held for any division. Action will also take place for the Special T Metals Pro Stocks, Joe’s Body Shop Pure Stocks, Stone & Co 4 Cylinders and Seal Tite Strictly Stock 4 Cylinders. The Mod 4’s were originally scheduled off but were added back on to the schedule.
 
So July will be a hot month for the big half mile Latrobe Speedway. Come join the action.
